Overview

One week camp sessions run the weeks of June 18-22, June 25-29th, July 9-13 and July 16-20th. Class descriptions are as follows: Fashion Dezign 1 (Half-day, 9AM-noon) AM sessions only June 18-22, June 25-29th, July 9-13, July 16-20 In this one-week program, campers learn how to take a simple garment from concept to completion, with an emphasis on design, individual expression and fun. We’ll touch on fashion history, the life cycle of a garment and basic art concepts as they relate to apparel design. Age-appropriate hands-on instruction will be provided in sketching out a design, measuring, basic garment construction, hand & machine sewing and embellishing. Recommended for students entering grades 2-3. Fashion Dezign 2 (Full-day, 9AM-4PM) Offered June 18-22, June 25-29th, July 9-13, July 16-20 Perfect for slightly older budding designers. In this full-day session campers learn how to take a slightly more complex garment from concept to completion in a creative, fun-filled setting. Students may work on more advanced sewing techniques and receive additional design challenges to stimulate their creative energies... Project Runway style! As time permits, we’ll study the work of famous designers and have fun examining costumes and textiles from around the world. Recommended for students entering grades 4-5. Fashion Dezign 3 (Full-day, 9AM-4PM) Offered June 18-22, June 25-29th, July 9-13, July 16-20 Targeted towards our middle schoolers, this session is ideal for the more confident fashionistas who are ready to spread their creative wings and want to hone their technical and practical skills. This new offering affords older campers the opportunity to develop their own personal style or vision and learn how to make their style or vision come alive. Students will have the opportunity to work more independently and have a greater role in the success of their creations. Instruction and supervision will be adjusted to the skill level of each of the students. For students entering grades 6-8. Interior Dezign (Half-day, 1PM-4PM) Offered June 25-29th, July 9-13 Creativity begins at home in this fun new DezignKidz offering as budding interior dezigners learn broad level concepts in space planning, scale and color theory and apply them to designs for their very own bedroom. Campers will make a floor plan, and learn first hand how form follows function as they create a coordinated collection of home decor items that’ll be the envy of all their friends. Sewing and other textile arts techniques will be utilized. Our newly minted interior “dezigners” are invited to display their new home decor collection at the camp wide fashion show. Open to ages 7-12 Accessory Dezign (Half-day, 1AM-4PM) Offered June 18-22, July 16-20 Every fashionista knows that accessories make the outfit. In this fun session, campers will learn how to turn their ideas from a sketch into a finished accessory, as we design and create one-of-a-kind bags, jewelry, scarves, hair ornaments and more. Kids will absorb valuable lessons in geometry, composition, proportion and color theory as we explore creative techniques involving sewing, fabric printing/dyeing and jewelry making and learn how to repurpose unusual materials into stylish new fashion items. A fun class on its own or paired with our AM Fashion Dezign I or new Interior Dezign offerings. Open to ages 7-12

DezignKidz offers kids 7-13 summer camp programs and after school programs in sewing, fashion design and related textile and apparel arts. We provide a fun, stimulating and age appropriate environment to channel creative energies while laying a foundation of practical skills that will last a lifetime. In our popular Fashion Dezign summer camp, students design sketch, sew and embellish a unique and wearable garment or accessory and later have the opportunity to model it on the runway in our camp wide fashion show.In our newest offering, Interior Dezign, students learn the basics of space planning, choosing a color palette, etc. and learn to design and create unique home decor items for their very own room.

Special Programs

DezignKidz offers a summer camp, after school enrichment programs, girl scout merit badge programs and creatively themed birthday parties. Upon request, we can also bring our proprietary curriculum on site to your school or homeschool group.
